Our Thoughts.

Spring Cleaning Your Slate Instance

A little maintenance can go a long way. Now is the perfect time to give your Slate instance a quick refresh—think of it as a warm-up to summer cycle prep.

Over time, outdated queries, forms, and campaigns accumulate, creating clutter that can slow down your processes. By taking time now to update and optimize, you can set yourself up for a smooth yield season and beyond.

Use the Resource Auditor to review, delete, and archive old assets.

  • Identify unnecessary objects that can be deleted or archived.
  • Check when rules, event templates, and other assets were last used.
  • Deactivate or archive queries, reports, and forms that are no longer in use.
  • Sunset old campaigns that don’t align with your enrollment strategy.
  • Merge or remove duplicate records to maintain a clean instance (make this a weekly task to avoid backlogs!)

Audit your folder structure.

  • Take a close look at how your folders in Deliver and Events are structured.
  • Keep folder structures intuitive and scaleable (e.g., for Deliver folders based on the application funnel: Prospects, Inquiries, Incomplete Applicants).
  • Consider organizing event folders by student type (e.g., inquiries/applicants, transfers, admits) to help personalize student visit offerings and display only relevant events in the Events widget.
  • This makes it easy for when you’re running reports and queries.

Optimize Rules and Permissions.

  • Use Check Rules to identify and reconfigure inefficient Rules.
  • Condense staff-assigned rules where possible (e.g., a single rule can look for school and home address).
  • Audit user records and permissions—remove access for inactive users.

A little housekeeping now means fewer headaches later. See more tips on cycle prep in our March webinar! We covered how overlooked cycle prep details often snowball into operational challenges, slowing processes and creating barriers for students.

One simple but impactful step? Removing inactive users from your instance. It’s an easy way to enhance security, ensure proper access oversight, and keep your system running smoothly.
